The Assistant Retail Floor Manager will oversee retail floor operations in conjunction with their manager to help lead the retail/hardware team toward the achievement of their goals. Responsibilities include:
Team Leadership
- Provide a positive representation of SLITERS and our core values
- Effectively communicate the mission and plan for the day and/or week using huddles, store meetings, and other communication tools ensuring team member responsibilities are clear
- Lead, manage and hold team members accountable (in partnership with their manager) for performance expectations and manage performance through coaching and training
- Ensure retail floor and operations teams are scheduled to meet the business needs, approve time and time off, control labor costs (staffing levels and overtime)
Customer Service
- Proactively greet customers and assist customers with project solutions using open ended questions; thank customers when finished and when they are leaving the store
- Ensure all phone calls and pages are answered promptly, courteously and effectively
- Handle customer complaints. Work to resolve problems with the customer and have SLITERS best interest taken into consideration
- Learn to / operate paint mixing and all cut stations within the store
- Recommend and lead product and procedural training for the team in conjunction with manager
- Take a lead role in loss prevention and loss prevention training
Store Operations, Inventory and Merchandising
- Ensure a positive, professional and safe work environment for all associates
- Oversee and assist with daily maintenance, orderliness and cleanliness of the sales floor, back and top stock and outdoor merchandise areas; ensure floor “outs” are filled
- Ensure receiving, checking in and stocking of merchandise for the store is accurate and complete
- Identify and communicate merchandising, cost control or sales ideas to their manager
- Oversee all cashiering functions, including training
- Identify and assist with maintenance and repairs of facilities, fixtures and equipment
- Oversee or assist with merchandise resets throughout the store
- Ensure all signage, including routine price updates, is current in the store
- Assist with and assign inventory counts and ensure compliance with SOPs that support inventory accuracy. When inventory issues arise (stock outs / overstocks / adjustments / closeouts), collaborate on resolution
- Ensure forklift operations and receiving is conducted safely and efficiently
Minimum Skills, Requirements and Qualifications
- High School or GED equivalent.
- Previous retail management experience preferred. Hardware experience preferred.
- Standing, walking, lifting (up to 50lbs) and climbing.
- Ability to learn/operate a forklift
- General computer skills
