About Us

SLITERS Lumber & Building Supply was founded in the 1930’s by Everit L Sliter as the People’s Mercantile.  Today, SLITERS is still family-owned and operated with Andrew Sliter at the helm.  SLITERS continues to serve retail and contractor customers with a wide range of project solutions throughout the Flathead Valley and surrounding areas.  The team at SLITERS stands ready to assist with product selections and provide building materials to your jobsite in the utmost professional manner.  We look forward to serving you!

SLITERS Lumber & Building Supply is an independent hardware store with multi-billion dollar national purchasing power. Visit one of our locations in Lakeside, Somers, or Bigfork, Montana, to experience our legendary customer services for yourself, or check out our Vimeo video.

Our P.A.C.T. -- Our Promise

A "pact" defines an agreement, or promise, between people.  At SLITERS, our P.A.C.T. is an acronym for our core values.

P - Professional - We are professional and reliable in our endeavors.

A - Attitude - We have a "can-do" attitude, we hustle.

C - Commitment - We are committed to each other, our customers and our communities.

T - Trustworthy - We mean what we say and we do what we say.

We strive to live the values of our P.A.C.T., our promise.  This promise guides our actions with each other, with our customers and within our communities.

At SLITERS Lumber & Building Supply, we are proud to be active members of the communities we serve. Several members of our staff belong to social welfare benefit organizations, such as the Masons, Lakeside Community Club, Community Foundation for a Better Bigfork, CASA for Kids of the Flathead Valley and Rotary Club, and we support our local boy scouts and the United Way™. We serve local QRUs and volunteer fire departments as well as organizations focused on the arts, such as the Hockaday Museum for the Arts.  We are also members of the Flathead Building Association and our local chambers of commerce.
