Position: Freight Receiving and Stocking Associate

The Freight Receiving and Stocking Associate is responsible for the receipt, verification, and logistics of all SKUs sold with a barcode delivered to the Bigfork location. Ensures the safekeeping, protection and proper storage of all goods and merchandise. Responsible for coordination of small special order items and hardware transfers to and from the Bigfork location to and from other Sliters locations. Must assist in other departments or with other job duties as requested or necessary.

Responsibilities Include

  • Arrives to work on time and in proper attire.
  • Executes the proper receiving procedures by product and shipment type (UPS, Orgil, drop shjp, inbound transfers), including:
    • Verifies merchandise received against packing slips in salable condition
    • Matches receiving documentation receiving with purchase orders
    • Ensures stock items are properly barcoded and item descriptions are accurate
    • Communicates discrepancies and back orders to appropriate personnel (sales, purchasing)
    • Stocks merchandise on sales floor
    • Manages and organizes backstock by department, including attic and warehouse.
  • Merchandises sales floor materials, including:
    • Sets sale end caps and product resets, including pricing signage
    • Stocks and maintains appearance of endcaps daily
    • Merchandises so product is free from dust
    • Rotates stock appropriately
    • Returns misplaced items to their proper location in the store
    • Ensures aisles are clean and hazards removed
    • For seasonal items in the greenhouse or store front, faces and labels product and ensures these areas are clean and presentable
  • Assists with inventory management by:
    • Creating tags and labels for new products, confirming bar code scans of all received materials and adding barcodes as appropriate when changed by manufacturers.
    • Processing returns for damaged or defective shipments
    • Counting and verifying inventory as requested and for “empty pegs”, including inventorying adjacent items and related products
  • Facilitates outbound transfers of materials between stores by pulling SKUs accurately; marking pulled items for intended store and staging them for transportation.
  • Calls customers regarding receipt of small special order items to notify customer of their arrival, including SKUs transferred from other stores, and stages them for pick up.
  • Performs maintenance and cleaning of stock/freight room and adjacent grounds to ensure areas are neat, clean and orderly.
  • Adheres to all Company policies and regulations.
  • Assists in other departments or with other job duties as assigned by Manager.

Qualifications

  • Must have ability to multi-task and follow directions.
  • Must have ability to work efficiently and stay on task with limited supervision.
  • Must possess knowledge of basic warehouse equipment, i.e., pallet jacks, dollies, hand trucks, trucks and shipping & receiving procedures.
  • Must have a basic understanding of product inventory and distribution.
  • Must use tact and discretion due to exposure to confidential matters.
  • Must be courteous and friendly in dealing with vendors and co-workers.
  • Will assist with other duties as required.

Work Environment

  • Warehouse environment.
  • Job requires ability to lift heavy objects, safely (up to 75lbs)
  • Must be able to work in varying conditions, indoors & outdoors, including varying temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Position requires frequent loading & unloading of trucks, handling of merchandise in excess of 50lbs., lifting, bending, twisting, use of stairs.
  • Steel-toed shoes recommended.
  • Non-smoking environment.
