Position: Hardware Sales Associate - Seasonal and Part-Time

We are currently hiring Hardware Sales Associates at our Lakeside location!

As a Hardware Sales Associate, your primary responsibility is identifying and greeting customers to provide prompt, friendly and courteous service. You will utilize product and inventory knowledge to ensure customers leave with everything they need to complete their project, in turn, promoting high levels of customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities include

  • Acknowledging customers and inquiring about customer’s project or problem and providing a solution.
  • Accurately completing sales and returns.
  • Sharing information about sale and promotional items with customers.
  • Directing customers to proper pick up area in the yard.
  • Communicating professionally in person and by phone.
  • Stocking and inventorying merchandise, as directed and ensuring store appears organized and clean at all times.
  • Watching for theft.
  • Adhering to store policies, procedures, and promotions.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned, including making keys, mixing paint, etc.

Required skills

  • Willingness to approach customers and offer assistance to solve customer’s project problems
  • Safely operate power equipment, if required
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Excellent listening and oral communication skills

This position requires standing and walking throughout the day and includes occasional heavy lifting (often 50 lbs) with intermittent outdoor activities. May occasionally load merchandise into customer vehicles.

Our operations are open 6 or 7 days per week, depending upon location. Schedule may require weekend and evening hours.

Success factors include:

  1. Overall sales activity
  2. Average transaction size (sales dollars divided by total transactions)
  3. Gross margin on sales
  4. Number of errors
  5. Customer satisfaction feedback
